Whose Plans Are They Anyway

As you may know, there are many people who feel they need help with their day-to-day situations and issues, myself being one of those. I really want God's help with decisions and events in which, like you, there are many unknowns. We have recently decided to sell our home and make a rather drastic change from country ranch with horses and too many dogs and such, back to the city. We have many friends here and know that it is unlikely that we will ever move back to the country.

As I was up at 4 a.m. this morning writing an email to a friend and neighbor, I began to hear this phrase,' whose plans are they anyway'. I began to realize that God was reminding me of why we were making this move in the first place. In short God had been prodding us for quite some time and we had finally reluctantly complied.

I began to feel the comfort that we can have anytime we are in God's will, which brings me to the pointof life. We get the feeling from very early on that it is our life with the responsibility being ours to make our plans and decisions. Many of us learn about God and His love for us and His desire to take care of us, but I think there is more.

What a difference there is between feeling you are in control but yet not, and knowing that God is in control because He has already provided for the plan that He devised in the first place and has the ability to control everything.

When my children were toddlers I knew their wisdom and knowledge were no match for the many situations they could face. I never for a moment expected them to be in charge. I loved them too much to risk their safty and future to their limited knowledge.

I believe that God is much smarter than us and an even better parent'. He has plans for us and is there, at every turn, because he knows all about our limited ability. Our heavenly Father understands our limited knowledge and doesn't want anything to keep us from His best for our lives.

He is the one with the plans just as we are the ones with the plans for our children as long as that is needed. How wonderful to realize that we didn't create the plan and thus are not responsible for carrying it out. We really don't even know how, but that's OK isn't it? It's more than OK. It's wonderful!

So wherever you are in life right now, just remind yourself that your Father has brought you down this path and he is quite capable of leading and providing the whole way. Our part is to listen to His voice of the Holy Spirit and let Him be God and our guide. If you are desiring to follow God and want His plans for you then you can rest in the fact that He is continually unfolding them.

Do we sometimes cause unplanned detours? I think we can but, God is still our Father and still has His plans. He stands ready to help us back on the path and wants nothing but the best for us. His love is greater than any of us is capable of having for our own children and His ability is limitless. What plans are you thinking about right now? Where does the path seem to be leading? Do you wonder what you are to do next, or if you are on the right path at all? Well, that is our human side reacting to the unknown. Just keep listening for God's inner direction.

Have you ever been amazed at where life' has taken you so far? Have you seen things unfold that you could have never imagined or planned from the eyes of childhood? Well, relax and listen, obey and enjoy the trip. When you become disturbed by the path just remind yourself of the one who is really in control. You are the child and God is the Father. Don't over estimate yourself. God doesn't. Just say, wait a minute. Whose plans are they anyway? And just keep walking with peace.

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27
