God has his own phone
I believe there are three categories
of Christians in terms of their understanding of God's communication
with His people today. The first group are those who simply
do not know that God will communicate directly with them. They
believe that is what church' is for. They need to go to church
so they can hear what the spiritually superior preacher has
heard from God for them. Interestingly, the same message is
given to everyone there. They may also believe that they should
read the Bible to know what God wants to say them. The problem
with that avenue is that many find the Bible difficult to read
and understand and thus find it boring. The result is that
many Christians do not read the Bible, though they may own
several. I was once one of those.
The second group would be the
Christians who believe that when they have a problem or a need,
they can pray and seek God's guidance in the matter and try to
perceive His will and guidance in some way. I believe that this
is good and true, myself. They have a need and give God a call,
so to speak, and try to determine His answer. I was once one
of those.
The third group, however, is the group I believe
God is trying to wake His people up to. It is, perhaps the smaller
group who believes that God has a phone too. In other words He
can initiate conversation with His children or Church anytime
He would like. He can convey His desires and directions or revelations
without having to wait until we call him or get it through someone
else.
I believe God has been talking a lot more than
we have been listening. We just have not been taught this fact.
I have heard Christians say things like I had a feeling I should
have done that.Or, something told me not to go there or do
that. They haven't been told about God's voice to His people
and that that something or feeling' was probably God. He has
never stopped talking and it is very important for us to realize
that and listen and then to learn to obey. We may not always
understand why He is instructing us to do something but we need
to learn His voice, to trust His instruction and obey.
The Bible
tells us in John 10:27 that Jesus said, My sheep hear my voice
and I know them and they follow me.He said He would send a
helper, the Holy Spirit, to live inside us. He proclaimed that
He would speak to us in our mind and in our heart. We can hear
from God wherever we are. There is no one between us and God.
He has given His children His very Spirit. We don't have to be
in Church or seek out a Man or woman of Godunless God moves
on our hearts to do that. Don't mis-understand, I am not saying
that we don't need to gather together. I believe we are strengthened
by the faith and testimony of others and the worship of God,
but each one of us has continual access to God wherever we are.
We
must realize also, that God isn't always talking. Sometimes we
just have to keep walking, until we hear further instructions.
But we must always be listening for that still small voice'
and recognize God's important commands and instructions right
away so we don't miss His best for us. I am now a part of this
group.
This is the ultimate group for our time here
on earth because God finally has what He wants and we finally
have what we need and that is a continual ongoing 24-7 relationship
with our Creator and Father. There is no one else in the middle
and we will want to make sure we don't let anything break our
lines of communication. We will learn to listen continually for
His voice and input in our day-to-day lives. We will realize
that He wants to be involved with us and He wants us to be involved
with Him.
Here are some verses from the Bible that explain
where I believe we are today and have been since Jesus returned
to heaven and instructed the apostles to go to Jerusalem and
wait for the Holy Spirit. We read about that in Acts I:5. The
amplified version says it this way.
5For John baptized with water,
but not many days from now you shall be baptized with ([a]placed
in, introduced into) the Holy Spirit.
I believe we, who have accepted
Jesus as our Savior, have been given the Spirit of God to instruct
us in His will for our lives. Which, by the way, would be all
of our wills if we knew what He knows. Other verses foretelling
and explaining this plan are found in Jeremiah 31:31-34 and I
John 2:27 just for a few.
Jeremiah 31:31--31Behold, the days are
coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the
house of Israel and with the house of Judah,(A)
32Not according
to the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day when
I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt,
My covenant which they broke, although I was their Husband, says
the Lord.
33But this is the covenant which I will make
with the house of Israel: After those days, says the Lord, I
will put My law within them, and on their hearts will I write
it; and I will be their God, and they will be My people.
1 John
2:27--27But as for you, the anointing (the sacred appointment,
the unction) which you received from Him abides [[a]permanently]
in you; [so] then you have no need that anyone should instruct
you. But just as His anointing teaches you concerning everything
and is true and is no falsehood, so you must abide in (live in,
never depart from) Him [being [b]rooted in Him, knit to Him],
just as [His anointing] has taught you [to do].
So, now knowing
all of this, will you sometimes miss His voice or think it was
your own thoughts and disregard it? Yes, I think we do, but you
will become better and better at discerning the difference. Just
to give a helpful hint, I have determined that the first thought
or unction, as the Bible calls it, that you hear is probably
God. Right behind that will come another thought, that being
the reason why the first one isn't a good idea. It usually is
associated with a fear or negative factor of some kind. Like,
well, if I did that then this would probably happen, or, I could
never do that, or I don't think that would work, and so on.
If
you recall in Matthew 13: 1-23 it talks about the seeds or information
sown and the different results. I believe verse 19 contains some
important information for us.
19[h]While anyone is hearing the
Word of the kingdom and does not grasp and comprehend it, the
evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart----.
I don't know about you
but I don't want to be like that one anymore. I have done that
for years, as many of you may have. I've had a thought or an
unction' and then decided why I shouldn't act on it and ---
didn't. I allowed the enemy to snatch it away. I am realizing
a much better way now. But, I know there are many of God's
people out there still in group 1 or 2 and God desperately
wants us all in group 3 so He can finally have the control
He wants and we so need. It is what He has longed for. It's
the only real one-to-one relationship we can have with our
Heavenly Father. How cool is that when you really think about
it. It is so exciting when you experience God instructing and
revealing His thoughts and desires to you in person. It is
the best faith builder there is. And by the way, isn't there
a verse that says, faith comes by hearingthe word of God.We read about that in Romans 10:17. When we hear from our awesome
God it is a great faith builder.
So how do you join' this
group? You don't. You just start from this moment on expecting
to hear from God in your heart and in your mind. Don't predetermine
what you will hear or when. Just be aware of what is coming
into your heart and into your mind and talk to God about it
if you have questions. But always listen so you don't miss
or disregard the most important information you could ever
get for you at that time.--and you're in! You have become
a part of what I believe is a growing group and God will use
you to share what you have learned with others who have not
known about the ability to and importance of hearing from God
in their own day-to-day lives. They have never been told God
has his own phone too, ---and He's talking to you.
How awesome.
